Have you ever pulled out your clothes after a wash, and it smelled like a wet dog after a long hot day in the sun?
Well it’s because of 2 main things: the first one is detergent, yes that’s right to the main cleaning agent you put into your washing machine is the same cleaning agent that makes your clothes reek, Reason being is that in Vancouver the amount of detergent we need to use for washing clothes is actually very slim, due to our soft water here. Hence, we tend to put excess amounts of detergent in, which all does not get flushed away and stays in your door liner, which is your door gasket. A good amount here would be equivalent to 1 tablespoon per load.
The second reason being and this one is an easy fix, is the time after your clothes spend in the washing machine after the cycle is done.
So when the water flushes away and drains out, and the bottom of the machine, there is still water left in the sump, which creates this sewage almost, and when your clothes are sitting there, they are right above the sewage point, Which hits your clothes and creates this bad reek. Simple fix, pull it out immediately after the wash cycle has completed.
That is how you keep your clothes smelling nice and fresh, hope this helps you in your future washes! – The Apollo Team
